. this is from our traffic camera along 880 in oakland. traffic is moving a little slowly tonight but it is indeed moving. moving to the south, this is the 280 interchange in san jose. it looks like traffic is pretty light there. bill martin has been tracking this latest system for us, and bill, you said this rain may linger on into the evening? >> it's going to linger, heather. like we were talking about earlier, it hasn't rained in a few weeks and the roads get a little wet. this is not a big storm, but the roads get very slick. it draws the residues to the surface and you get slick roadways. the heaviest rain has been in the north bay. there's santa rosa right now. you can see the darker greens? obviously, that's the heavier rain, just north of napa. but basically the heavier rains are widely spread. we're seeing light, scattered sprinkles throughout the area. it's sort of the same light green. you just saw patti up there by berkeley. this is a light, low-grade rainfall that's going to continue as we go into the evening hours. there will be an opportunity -- i'll back it out a

the streets of oakland, like they can useless officers. joe learned the chp is pulling the plug on operation impact. >> i talked to several oakland police officers who have been impressed with the job chp has down to street in oakland. so the police chief has asked the chp to stay another 90 days. chp is saying yes, if you pay us. >> this last 90 day period came from the chp's budget. >> chp has happened opd many times in the past, usually funded by state grants. not this time. chp like any other organization has a budget it it has to operate within. it would imprudent to except the police to provide police service without the service being reimbursed. the decision comes days after approving a $250,000 contract to bring in deputies from alameda county. i don't know if we have to pay them, that's a position of some in the capital. i'm meeting with the commissioner and the chp and talking to the governor, i hope it would be covered by grants. >> i will reach out to jerry brown, he knows the issue in oakland. playing this game with the highway

of an undercover police officer in oakland last night. investigators say the undercover detective was hit in the arm, just before 6:30 last night as he sat in a car near seminary and bromley avenues. one suspect was arrested, the officer is expected to recover. >>> a heated debate is expected at the meeting of the oakland city council, the big issue, whether to pay a quarter million dollars to hire an anticrime consultant, william bratton, who let police departments in new york, boston and los angeles. he has strong supporters and critics. baton has a history -- bratton has a history of helping crime but there is concern about his stop and frisk and zero tolerance. >>> let's find out what's cooking on this tuesday. >> we've got a storm brewing. we haven't said that for three weeks, it looks like, yeah, we've got clouds beginning to make their way across the skies. no rain today, it will be a fairly pleasant day outside. hazy sunshine. you can see the storm clouds off the coastline but that is going to start to move onshore, as we head toward tomorrow.

, oakland police say they are holding a news conference to talk about two recent shootings that injured police officers. police say a 13-year-old veteran was shot and wounded by a suspect during a foot chase in the fruitvale district on friday. five days earlier, on january 21st, an undercover police officer was shot and wounded while working on seminary avenue. full recoveries are expected for both officers. >>> the super bowl found 49ers are already in the big easy this morning. fans waved 49er faithful fashion as the team took off for new orleans yesterday at noon. five hours later, they touched down in new orleans for a week of practice before the game. the odds are on the niners' side. they are favored to beat the ravens. san francisco has been to the super bowl five times and they've won each game. the last one in 1995. 49ers have settled in at their new headquarters in downtown new orleans. fans greeted the players and took pictures with them in front of large banners. today, the team will begin weight lifting, practice and team meetings and we have our own team in new orleans. t

was shot by a suspect in oakland. the shooting happened just before 6:00 last night on the east side of the city near the intersection of 49th avenue and east 12th street. police say the wounded officer continued to chase after the suspect after he was shot. stephanie truong has new details. >> an officer called for assistance. he had suffered a gunshot wound. >> reporter: that oakland officer was one of two responding to the sound of gunshots at 49th and east 12th. officer gianna watson said the officers found a man with a gun who began to fire at them, hitting one of them. witnesses say they heard from four to six gunshots in all. watson added that even though he was hurt, the wounded veteran continued to chase the suspect. >> he was able to take him into custody and recover his firearm. >> reporter: officers stayed at the scene of a original report of a two-car crash at 47th and 12th trying to determine whether the driver who ran from one of the cars was linked to the shooting at 49th minutes later. witness tells ums the gunman may have been trying to steal a bicycle before office
